Spring Art Tour in Hunterdon

The Hunterdon Art Tour is set for April 30/May 1!

Great news! The last weekend of April is a self-driving art tour, called  “The Hunterdon Art Tour” and 90 area artists in 40 locations are opening up their studios to welcome visitors and I am one of those artists.  You are invited to come see my art and working space!

I am so excited to be in my space and working on many projects, including the small works in my 100 Day Project. The landlord has repaired the building and tenants are moving back in.

Lambertville Sunshine

An early spring day in Lambertville! I took a walk towards the path along the canal. Note I said towards…the path is still full of craters from the fall floods.

Craters on the canal.

Avoiding the potential ankle twists, I used a parallel path and got further down the walkway. I was able to get a great sunlit photo of the abandoned rail car. It’s sort of a local celeb.

Art Journaling

Daily art practice is such a wonderful moment of respite and release. Although it takes me a bit to get to the work table, once I am there, I start to feel energized by color, line, shape. Recently exploring pattern and contrast has been a big focus for me.

I hope to continue the daily journaling, although I am going to be starting a 100 Day Challenge on Feb. 13. Very excited to be creating and sharing my journey over the 100 Days!

The Hundred Day Project

On Jan 31, I started The Hundred Day Project. It’s a challenge for makers to create an artwork each day for 100 days. (Note the creation could be artwork or anyting else – poem, writing, etc.)

So we are at Feb. 27 and I have created 28 small works. My “guide” for myself is the size of the work (4 in. by 4 in. square) and substrate (paper of some kind).

I feel good that I have kept up — so far — and been able pull out different materials I have not been using. I have done some collages, painted papers, stamping/stenciling and using iZink Ice from Aladine (colors from Seth Apter’s collection).

See below thumbnails (click for slideshow) for some of the artworks I have made so far! Follow me on Instagram @cmiller237 for an image each day. Or on my Facebook art page @greencottagestudio.
